2008-09 Dragons

8/1: Lady Dragons beat Elite Hoop 44-37. In a physical game against an older and taller team, the Lady Dragons showed their skills Saturday afternoon. Solid box outs and outside shots gave way to an early lead. With the game tied at half time, Chanda Reid, Sidney Smith, Jessica Brown, & Gabrielle Pitre scored with shots from the field. Sidney & Gabrielle hit 3's from the outside, while Amber and Elise scored on fast breaks. Brynn, Jessica, Elise, & Gabrielle ruled the post. One up defense by Chanda & Adrienne lead to many turnovers by the Elite. Jessica Brown & Chanda Reid awarded 2008-09 MVPs.

7/25: Lady Dragons defeat Decatur Thunder 45-37 in a hard fought game. The Dragons were winning for the first half, but let the Thunder come back in the third quarter. Early foul trouble by the Thunder put us in a double bonus early in the fourth quarter. Elise Holden sank 8/10 free throws and scored a game high 17 points. Sidney was hot early and never missed in the first quarter. She finished with 11 points. Amber drove in and made a free throw for 5 points, and Jessica shot another 6 points from the field. Gabrielle Pitre had a nice power shot for 2 after a fast break. Adrienne made the first of a one and one, and Brynn scored 3 points.

7/20: Lady Dragons beat Grace St. Lukes 31-24 in a close game. Man defense and full court pressure by the Dragons lead to many turnovers by the Saints. Brynn Holden scored a game high 12 points with drives to the post and putbacks. Elise Holden shot a three and a pair of twos to finish with 7 points. Jessica Brown connected for 6 points and four blocked shots. Sidney Smith added a three point shot and a nice two. Chanda Reid made one of her free throws. Kylie, Adrienne, & Gabrielle did a great job on defense.

7/18: Collierville Dragons chalk up a win against Lady Jaguars. Amber, Elise, Adrienne, Chanda, & Sidney did a great job at handling the ball, while Jessica, Brynn, & Gabrielle ruled the post.

7/11: Summer Lady Dragons defeat Memphis Elite 34-32 in a close game. In a back & forth game Sidney Smith hits a 16 footer with 13 seconds remaining to push the Dragons ahead by 2. Great team defense and full court pressing help swing the game to the Lady Dragons. Brynn lead scorer with 9 points, Sidney connects for 7 points, Chanda hits 6 points from the field, and Jessica controls the post for another 6. Gabrielle, Elise, and Adrienne all add to the score. Brynn & Jessica lead in rebounds.

6/28: Dragons finish 3rd in Summer Hoops Tournament in Little Rock. Dragons defeat Arkansas Cobras on Saturday & Nashville Scrapettes on Sunday. After two games on Saturday and playing against a fresh Arkansas Warrior team, the Dragons could not pull through with a win on Saturday evening. Amber Baldwin did a great job as point guard with Elise & Sidney alernating as the shooting guard. All three girls hit 3's when needed at will. Chanda & Adrienne made the #3 spot look easy, while Jessica & Brynn dominated the post.

5/24: 12U Lady Dragons win 2nd Place in Think Pink Middle School Division. The Dragons were winning by one at half time, but wore down against the 13U Olive Branch Sparks in the final minutes of the game. The Lady Dragons handled and broke the diamond press and 1-3-1 defense easily in the first half. In the second half poor shooting from the field against a 2-3 zone and turnovers cost us the game. Brittany Parmenter wins MVP!!

5/23: Dragons defeat Dallas 40-30 to advance to the championship. Madeson hits game high 22 points to lead the team by dominating the post. Amber shoots 8/8 on the free thow line and and broke the diamond press and 1-3-1 defense easily in the first half. In the second half poor shooting from the field against a 2-3 zone and turnovers cost us the game. Brittany Parmenter wins MVP!! finishes with 10 points. Jessica shoots 6 from the post and Katy connects for 2.

5/23: Dragons beat Idlewild Fury 53-32 in morning game. Brittany & Katie lead scorers with 16 & 14 points. The rest of the team: Amber 6, Madeson 4, Jessica 6, Brynn 4, and Chanda 2.

5/22: Dragons defeat Elmore Park 34-32 in first game of Think Pink. Brittany Parmenter sinks two last second free-throws to secure the win. Brittany hits from the field for 15 points, Brynn scores 6, Jessica and Chanda score 4, Amber & Sydney both connect for 2, and Megan sinks a free-throw.

5/9: Lady Dragons finish MAM League games with a victory over MBA Girls 33-30.
Megan Loden & Madison McCaster lead scorers. Megan shot 60% from the field. Madison & Brynn lead the team in rebounds.
Amber, Brittany, Brynn, & Chanda all score.

5/7: Dragons beat Bartlett 48-44. With only six players the Lady Dragons boxed out and out-rebounded the other team for the win. Brittany & Katie score 3's from the outside while Jessica, Megan, Amber, & Brynn hit 2's from the perimeter. Jessica Brown played the entire game controlling the boards.

5/3: Dragons defeat 7th grade Ramer Raiders and Jackson Christian School to finish 2nd at MAYB, Jackson, TN. Amber Baldwin lead scorer with dribble drives and shots from the field. Madeson, Brittany, Katie, Megan, Brynn, Jessica, & Chanda score in all games. Elise injured & out for the season in first game against Memphis Elite. She was awarded MVP.

4/28: Dragons tie Hoop Family 38-38. Turnovers gave the opposing team a comeback as they were up by 3 points with 24 seconds remaining. Elise made the front side of a one-on-one, and Madeson shoots a pair with 10 seconds left to end the game in a tie. Outstanding play by Brynn in the second half puts 6 quick points on the board. Megan, Katie, Amber, Brittany, & Jessica score.
